Sunday culture
Bacchus, the god of wine. December 2025.

I almost didn’t write anything this week as I am fully locked in to the nebulous ‘what day is it’ bit between Christmas and New Year (I refuse to call it the ‘merryneum). Rather smugly, I’ve barely had time to consume anything other than food and conversation. Phone down. Heart and stomach full.

One observation from many conversations I’ve had with those dear to me and beyond was that most of us have been craving a chilled festive season simply catching up with those we love, and that, dear reader, was what I did. I’ve eaten like a king over the last few days and nothing beats sharing food with people and having the craic.

What I’ve been watching

I’ve hopped on the Stranger Things bandwagon just in time for the season 5 conclusion. Lots to catch up on and somehow I’ve avoided all of the chronically online pop culture references from the last few years so have absolutely no idea how this is all going to unfold…

What I’ve been reading

Nothing but menus and recipes!

What I’ve been listening to

Van Morrison soundtracked our Christmas dinner this year. All of the back catalogue but with a special shout out to ‘Warm Love’ from Hard Nose the Highway. And it’s ever present everywhere. Summed up my gorgeous Christmas with friends and family. ❤️

May the slide in to the New Year be gentle.
